My final Awesome (3.4) desktop configuration, containing some specific solutions (like solid keybindings help, notifications about layout changes, some effort put into structuring the code) - see final screenshots in this blog article. I do not maintain it anymore as I stopped using Awesome, but maybe those will be of use for somebody.
